Driver Essentials » Launch It!

The Driver has a unique set-up to promote a launch

In this Tip of the Week, I share some key points to a better driver set-up. Too many players set-up to a driver the same as they would with their other clubs. To understand why the set-up is key, you first need to understand why you need a distinct set-up. Through the summer, I'll share more tips on getting that power set-up to launch it! In fact, check out a fun launch test. Grab a squirt gun! So, let's get to it!

Thanks for the great tip. Just wondering then if my descending blow would cause my horrible slice.

Hi Jerri,

Most certainly! A slice is an out-to-in swing path and descending strike. Follow the tips to get a launch without the slice-factor!

That is a beautiful range!!! Love the guy in the background. lol I try all of your tips, Christina, and my golf game is much better. Maybe today's tip will help me with a slice that has plagued my drives for a while. Seems like there are certain holes on the course where I always slice my drive. Must be something inside my head on those particular holes, such as, you always hit a slice on this hole so let's just do it again!

Hi Debbie,

Set-up is critical, especially with the driver. Work in front of the mirror as well to ensure your sternum is behind the ball and that your weight favors slightly the back foot. 55% back foot. I know the member in the background is hysterical. He is a great guy and a passionate golfer like us!

Amazing the slightest difference in ball placement will affect swing. No more laziness when I position my feet any old way. Thank you!
